Customs Regulation – Documents Required
Goods from GCC countries
- Commercial Invoice: 1 original plus 3 copies. For value above OMR 1,000/- the original invoice must be certified by Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Please ensure that the invoice includes CIF value, manufacturer, Country of origin, number of packages, gross weight and volume if a separate packing list is not presented. Invoices must also have H S Codes against each product with relevant gross weight and value against each product/H S Code. Packing list is necessary if packing details are not in the invoice.
- GCC Certificate: 1 original certificate signed by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry at origin. (Optional – If not available shipment can be cleared by paying USD 65/- non-refundable deposit. If GCC certificate of Origin is not available, duty of 5% is applicable on CIF value.
Goods from other countries

Please ensure that the invoice includes CIF value, manufacturer, Country of origin, number of packages, gross weight and volume if a separate packing list is not presented. Invoices must also have H S Codes against each product with relevant gross weight and value against each product/H S Code. Packing list is necessary if packing details are not in the invoice.
- Certificate of Origin: 1 original certificate signed by the Chamber of Commerce and legalised by Omani embassy or any other Arab embassy. If not available shipment can be cleared by paying USD 65/- non-refundable deposit.
- For Air/Sea shipments, we need original AWB or B/L as applicable.

- All original documents should be received by GAC Oman 10 days prior to arrival of cargo for sea freight 5 days prior for air shipments.
- All invoices must clearly state the CIF value, if not, the customs will add insurance and freight value at their discretion.
Official Charges
- Duty is 5% of the CIF value or custom assessed value and should be paid in full prior to delivery of cargo. Most commodities are subject to 5% duty. However, it is advisable to get confirmation from us prior to shipment.
- Customs inspection of goods at the exhibition site and charges for the same included in our tariff.
- Health certificate for foodstuff is OMR 5/- per certificate. All foodstuff cargo requires Original legalized health certificate from the origin without which shipment cannot be cleared. Chemicals and hazardous cargo cannot be cleared without Original chemical permit or relevant permission from Oman authorities that has to be obtained by the consignee at least 7 days prior to arrival of shipment.
Our assistance for health inspection and handling would be : RO. 25/- per shipment.
Arrival of Goods
- All shipments should arrive at least 7 days prior to the opening of the exhibition. However, please note line and port storage (free time is usually between 8-10 days from liners and 10 days at port) will be charged as applicable at the time of clearance.
- Our charges include documentation, customs clearance, customs inspection at seaport or exhibition site and airport, transport, discharging of cargo at the exhibition site and delivery upto the stand. Our charges are to be paid in full prior to delivery of cargo.
Restriction
- Video cassettes will be detained by Customs for 2-3 weeks for approval, and cannot be transported by road into Oman.
Re-export
Following documents are required by the Customs to be able to claim the customs deposit refund:
- Export invoice on the Company’s letterhead
- Sales invoice
- Packing list
- Import documents including the Original Bill of Entry.
Please note refund will be given only for goods re-exported within one month.
