EDUTECH will be held at the Oman International Exhibition Centre S.A.O.C. (OIEC), the sole state owned organization equipped to hold large-scale exhibitions and trade fairs in the Sultanate of Oman. OIEC provides world-class facilities for exhibitions and works to continuously enhance the infrastructure and resources that are available to the organizers, exhibitors and visitors. Visa

1. Applying for a visa through OITE

Visas will be processed on receipt of the following enclosures by courier 3 weeks before the exhibition:

  • Relevant Pages of passport copy
  • Visa copy with last exit stamp if visited Oman earlier; and
  • 4 colour Passport size Photographs

Note:

  • The passport should be valid for at least the next 6 months from the date of application.
  • Applicant’s mothers name should be mentioned in the visa application.
  • Visas are issued at the discretion of the Director General of Immigration, Royal Oman Police. The organisers accept no responsibility for procuring visas or type of visa requested, on time.

2. Exhibitors working on executive/managerial level and having a valid UAE residence visa, can avail of visas on arrival at the border, by road.

Local Transport

The state-owned Oman National Transport Company has a network of services in Muscat. For long distance travel the Oman National Transport Company is a good choice. Taxis or cabs are available for travel within the city. Prices are high and fares should be agreed in advance. Shared taxis are also available. All major hotels offer luxury coach services. Visitors can also hire rental cars and Rent a Car companies have offices at hotels throughout the country.

Traffic drives on the right. Many of the rules and regulations such as wearing seat belts and posted speed limits (in km/h) are standard. Residents require a valid Omani license but visitors can use an international license. Visitors hiring rental cars are urged to ensure that the vehicle they are renting is adequately insured against loss or damage. Please be aware that rules are enforced and violators will be penalized. There are strict penalties for driving under the influence of alcohol. It is also forbidden to drive on the beaches.

Language

Arabic is the official language of the Sultanate of Oman. However English and other Asian languages like Hindi, Urdu, and Baluchi are also widely spoken. Swahili is also spoken by some, a legacy of Oman´s former East African presence. English is most commonly used in business.

Currency

The basic unit of currency in Oman is the Omani Rial (0.38 rial equals U.S. $1; fixed rate). It is divided into 1000 baiza. Notes are in denominations of RO 50, 20, 10, 5, 1 and 500 and 100 baiza. Coins are in denominations of 100, 50, 25, 10 and 5 baiza. Cash card machines are readily available at banks and shopping centres. Major credit cards are accepted in hotels, larger shops and restaurants. Cash will be needed in small shops.
